For warehouse operators, each day is a race to turn off their lights and let the sun illuminate the interior of their building for free. A comparison of four types of commercial skylight shows that VELUX Dynamic Dome commercial skylights consistently bring more sunlight into a building throughout the day.

The product comparison simulated the sun’s angle as it traverses the sky in all four seasons to compare output lumens during different times of the day. In all simulations, the VELUX Dynamic Dome ranked highest for output lumens during different times throughout the day.

A second simulation compared the same commercial skylight products’ ability to provide enough natural light to enable a warehouse operator to shut off the electrical lighting. Again the Dynamic Dome outperformed the other skylights by allowing electrical lights to be turned off earlier and stay off later. They provided between 47 and 56 additional minutes per day of natural light.

The second simulation has substantial financial repercussions for warehouse operators: It means they could experience between 286 hours and 340 hours per year in lighting savings by using the Dynamic Dome.
